Nano-technology bug in Canadian coins :)

A recent post in Slashdot directed me to the original article that had appeared on CBC website, stating that "Canadian coins bugged, U.S. security agency says". What amazes me is that how far this crap has gotten so far.

Come one, we are not that advance yet :) It seems kind of far fetched. But let's assume that this was possible. Here are the flaws with this espionage fiasco

  1. The coin has a conspicuous center in bright red in form of a poppy. Wouldn't the geniuses that had implanted the tiny bug think of painting it silver so it would be so recognizable?
  2. What if you spend your bugged coin? how likely is that, or you throw it out the window of your car as soon as you notice that you have such a coin?

I am a bit worried and suspicious person myself, but this frankly shows the level of paranoia epidemic that we are dealing with here. If it was possible to make such a device so small (forget about why make it!), then they would implant it in your cloth, your food, etc. This story is getting more press time than the most urgent global matters.
